City of Birmingham Detroit

The Lincoln Hills Golf Course is one of two operated by the city of Birmingham. The other is the Springdale course. Lincoln Hills first opened for play in 1964. Recently, this Birmingham golf course benefited from renovations, including an upgrading of the irrigation system. From the longest tees, this par 35 test is 3,023 yards long. The course rating is 33.5, and the slope is 122. Bruce and Jerry Mathews designed this nine hole test. Their design includes various tree-lined fairways on rolling southeastern Michigan terrain.

The Lincoln Hills clubhouse has been renovated, and it now helps to make this facility one of the best golf courses in Michigan in terms of nine hole, municipal layouts. The bar & grille offers a great place to relax after your round. A fine selection of beers and wines are offered. Burgers, turkey sandwiches, and salads are among the items on the menu. The upgraded clubhouse includes a large stone fireplace and big-screen TVs. The pro shop is managed by PGA pros who also offer group and individual lessons. The Springdale Golf Course is operated by the City of Birmingham. It includes nine scenic, tree-lined holes with well-manicured fairways. Boulder-lined water hazards add to both the aesthetics and the challenge of the layout. The par 34 layout measures 2,706 yards from the longest tees. From those tees, the slope is 113, and the course rating is 33.5. This is a delightful course on which to practice or to enjoy a round with the family. The City also operates Lincoln Hills, and this Birmingham golf course is the shorter of the two layouts.

The Springdale course is the one with the longest history. It originally opened for play in 1929. In 2000, various upgrades enhanced the course, including the bank restoration along the Rouge River. Now, among the muni nine hole layouts, it’s one of the best golf courses in Michigan. Visit the golf shop, and practice your game on the practice facilities. The grill offers burgers, turkey sandwiches, salads, and similar fare. A good selection of beers and wines are offered as well.
