About Southmoore Golf Course
Bath,PA
Ever since it opened in 1994, this Jim Blaukovitch design has been considered one of the better courses in the Lehigh Valley. It has a great mix of flat and hilly terrain, tree-lined and open holes, and the fairways can only be described as plush. Glimpses of Blue Mountain can be seen from several spots on the course.
Blaukovitch did a lot with the land he was given. On the flatter, straighter holes, the rough often pinches in to narrow down the fairways and create some tricky driving lanes. On the elevated holes, the uneven lies and steep drops are more than enough challenge and will have you second-guessing your shots.
Take No. 3 for example, a short par-3 at 130 yards, but from the elevated tee staring down at the severe dropoff to the left of the green, it’s a knee knocker. And No. 4 seems like a fairly benign par-5, but after an uphill tee shot and a lay-up second, you have to hit your approach off a downhill lie to a downhill green — that’ll make you stop and think. There are a few blind shots out here, but there is always a flag marking the proper line, always a nice touch.
